Arm lift surgery, also called brachioplasty, is a procedure in which excess skin and fat is removed in the upper arm region between the armpit and the elbow. Arm lifts are one of several body contouring surgeries offered by Dr. Belek. The surgery is designed not only to strategically eliminate drooping skin and unwanted fat, it will also tighten and smooth the supportive tissue that shapes your upper arms.
If you’re tired of constantly being self-conscious of your upper arms, Dr. Belek can help give you the taut, smooth arms you’ve always wanted with an arm lift surgery.
Benefits of Arm Lifts
Watch your upper arms transform from sagging to slim with an arm lift by Dr. Belek. Here are some of the benefits you can experience with an arm lift:
- Creates even, smooth-looking skin by restructuring
- An appearance of more toned and proportioned arms
- Minimizes excess arm fat and drooping skin
- Renewed sense of self-esteem and confidence
- No need to choose baggy clothes that hide your upper arms—show them off in style!
Causes of Sagging Arms
Excess fat and sagging skin in the upper arms may be caused by one of these factors, or even a combination:
- Drastic weight loss or gain
- Aging, which causes the skin to lose elasticity
- Genetic propensity
Although exercise may help tone arm muscle, it cannot remove excess skin buildup, and a surgical procedure is the best way to correct the issue. Once an arm lift has been completed, regular exercise and healthy eating will help maintain slim, toned arms.
Before & After Photos
The Arm Lift Procedure
Step 1: Anesthesia
Arm lifts are always performed under either intravenous sedation or anesthesia, in order to ensure your comfort during the surgery. Dr. Belek will recommend the best method for you during your initial consultation.
Step 2: Small Incision
Dr. Belek will make a small incision under or along your inner arm, in order to leave a minimally noticeable scar. Depending on the amount of skin that needs to be removed, this incision may extend anywhere from your armpit to your elbow.
Step 3: Removal of Fat and Tightening of Supportive Tissue
Once the incision is made, the excess skin and fat on your arms will be removed, either by direct removal or with liposuction. Your arm will then be reshaped by tightening the supportive tissues.
Recovery from an Arm Lift
After an arm lift surgery, you may experience minor swelling, bruising, and numbness on the affected area. Bandages and supportive wraps will be applied to your arms in order to reduce these symptoms, which should subside after 1 to 2 weeks.
There may be minimal scarring underneath or on the inner arm, which should not be at all noticeable. Exact recovery times will vary, of course, from patient to patient depending on how much tissue and fat is to be removed.
The best candidates for arm lifts have excess upper arm skin, are currently maintaining a stable weight, no medical conditions that increase risks of surgery, and are non-smokers.
